Silent Movie Reflection

Our silent movie was a project with many steps, we first came up with an idea which developed into a plot that we rehearsed, filmed and edited. During the project I did well with using facial expressions and movements to convey emotion. Also, I did well with finding different camera angles to film from and setting up the cameras. As a group we did well with incorporating comedy into our movie while ensuring that making sense. For example our chase scene was one of the more comedic aspects of the movie but it fit in well with the plot. I could have improved upon exaggerating my movements to make things more comical for the audience. The entire group could have worked on exaggerating movements more while still keeping them slow enough so the audience can understand the plot. An example of where this could have been improved is when we were doing the chase scene. We could have ran slower to make the movements exaggerated. Due to this project I learned many things, for example I learned how to convey a storyline without any words. Also, I learned about working with a group and utilizing everyone's strengths in different ways. This project helped me grow as an actress because I had to portray a storyline without using any words which is unlike anything I have done before. This project required me to use facial expressions and body movements to get my point across. There was a balance that needed to be struck with these motions. They had to be big to show what was going on in the scene but they also had to be believable. Over the entire project our group worked on many things. The main aspect of our movie that improved over time was the plot that we wrote. In the beginning there was just going to be a robbery from a bank where a security guard and policeman chased after two robbers and they got away. By the end of our project we had added many more layers to the plot. One layer we added was when one of the bank robbers which was Elena double crossed the other (me). Elena then used this as a distraction to sneak back to the bank and steal the money. All in all, our project changed a lot from beginning to end and I have learned many things from this process.
