About Me

Hello, my name is Maddie Silano. I am a freshman and a day student. I have some theater experience. So far I have been in 4 musicals which were Xanadu, Beauty and the Beast, Into the Woods, and Mary Poppins. In all of these shows I have had small features, either with a group or by myself. Along with these roles I also sang in the ensemble.

One interesting thing about me is that I really enjoy playing soccer. So far I have played for 11 years on many teams. Currently, I am playing premier soccer for Farmington Sports Arena. I have been playing with this club for 4 years. In addition, I played on the Cheshire Academy soccer team during the fall. On both these teams I played all positions; forward, midfield, and defense. I have learned many skills while playing soccer many of which can translate into theater. For example, on the field I learned that you can never give up, no matter what the score is. This translates into theater because even if you mess up your lines, or choreography you must continue no matter what.

Another interesting fact about me is I like to travel. Recently I went to Arizona to visit the Grand Canyon. While I was there we did a bike tour around the rim of the canyon, which was an amazing experience. In the past I have gone to different islands in the Caribbean such as Eleuthera and Grand Bahama. My favorite parts about traveling to these places are learning about the local culture, wildlife, and history. In the future I would like to travel to Europe, specifically France. This is because I am currently taking French 2 and traveling there would help me to understand more of the language and improve my cultural knowledge. 

The last interesting fact about me is that I am very hardworking.  No matter if it is memorizing lines for a play or doing homework I won’t rest until it is done. In all aspects of my life I strive to do the very best that I can do. I always commit to what I do and never give up. 

I am taking this course to help me to better encompass the emotions of characters that I portray in plays and musicals. This year I am Young Cosette in the musical and during this course I hope to learn how to better embody her character. In the other musicals I have been in I was always a happy character. This year I need to learn how to act depressed, sad and neglected as most of Cosette's life has been a struggle. Also, I want to take this course because acting is my favorite part of theater. I enjoy being someone else and completely embodying their character. By taking this course I hope to improve my public speaking and projection on stage. I also want to try new things that will make me a better actress.
